The universe of COMME des GARÇONS is vast, with diffusions that confuse even the best of us — CDG SHIRT, BLACK, PLAY, HOMME PLUS — collectively known as CDG in the sneaker world. With two collaborative efforts on the New Balance 550 for 2022, the HOMME PLUS division is returning to the footwear fold.
This might be the laziest collaboration since their phone-in collaboration with Supreme on the Air Force 1? Due to the brand logo appearing prominently on the heels of two black and white leather-built releases and no attempt to distinguish it from a slew of previously-released general releases, we’ll leave the decision to you. However, as with CDG in the past, not everything needs to be overt and over-the-top, nor does it need to be flashy and colorful to be effective. A closer look at the minimal duo reveals premium leathers and differentiated blocking — but is that enough?
